I tried literally all audio settings in the BluRay player. Or there are more sinister reasons, such as my 2m HDMI cable, which doesn't say whether it's 1.3 compliant. What I am more worried about is whether the BluRay player is broken, or whether my Dell U2711 is broken. I'd prefer using analogue connection as the DAC in Z-5500 is not as good I don't think. I tried SPDIF optical directly to my speaker and that works. I can't seem to get any audio output using this method. U2711 has audio pass through which output audio in form of aux 3.5mm. I've been trying to connect the HDMI out to my Dell U2711 LCD monitor and get audio through it. I don't have any BD disc yet, but I've got some SACD lying around.
I've recently got a Sony BDP-S370 BluRay player.
